The Orientations Trilogy (Autumn 2010)

We are delighted to be partnering again with Border Crossings to produce the participation programme for their forthcoming Orientations Trilogy.

In 2004, Border Crossings created a production called Orientations, which dealt with sexual and gender identities in India. This year the play is being revived, together with two other related pieces, Dis-Orientations (set in China) and Re-Orientations (set in both India and China).  All three have strong LGBT themes.

The participation programme will offer opportunities for members of Asian and Chinese communities in Britain to connect with heritage from their country of origin through the art forms Yakshagana and Yueju.

We will also be exploring LGBT heritage within these cultures - giving a platform to these 'minorities within minorities'. We will facilitate workshops with youth groups, involving the performers, to explore gender and sexuality in Asian and Chinese culture.

We are also looking for some young people who'd like to be more fully involved with the project as volunteers - with opportunities to develop a website with social networking, and to make a film documenting the process and experiences.

Please contact us if you or your youth group might like to be involved...

Orientations, Dis-Orientations and Re-Orientations: Created by Border Crossings in collaboration with partners from China, India, France and Sweden. Performing in 2010 at London's Soho Theatre and Shanghai Dramatic Arts Centre.
